Norman Lindsay always drew or painted voluptuous young ladies in a state of near nakedness. Here they are cavorting with peacocks, or perhaps competing with peacocks.
Great choice of animal, I reckon. Peacocks symbolise royalty, glory, immortality and refinement.
I was wondering as well if the title was chosen because he thought the women to be like peacocks as well. I just learned about his work and will have to check into it more.
